I am going to purchase the 551 drive and SDX! I really appreciate the help I received from the magazine (Charles, Gary, and Albert). I think that I found the problem with my 1050. I opened it up and took a magnifying glass to the sockets on the drive. It seems that there is a hair-line crack in at least one solder connection. But since I have decided to get the 551 I will not temp fate and try to repair it, at least not until I have the new drive! So if all goes well in a couple of weeks I will have TWO drives and SDX. I have some new questions for you all. Does somone out there own Diamond or GOE and have you used X windows (I use X)? If you have, I would appreciate knowing the simularities and differences between the Atari carts and X windows? Do both carts work with SDX? Which cart is better?
