Twice now it has failed to come up when I turn it on. The problem is clearly audible -- usually it spins for a few seconds, then gurgles a bit, presumably as the head moves into place. After the gurgling stops I can turn on my ST and it autoboots. When the problem strikes, the disk starts to spin but nothing happens -- no further sounds, and when I turn on the computer it boots from a floppy without my having to play with the keys, just as if the HD didn't exist." -------------------------- About three times a year, I have the same problem with my SH 204 from Atari. I'm not sure which connector it is, but after removing the case of my hard drive and cleaning all the connectors, the problem disappears. Whether the problem is solved by my cleaning the connectors or by my wiggling the wires going into the connectors as a result of the cleaning I don't know. At any rate, the thing will work perfectly for about four months. I just consider it one of those things.... Larry Rymal in East Texas
