I need to buy software for my IBM compatible but I don't know it's 
specifications. And I have no prior experience with PCs.

Thus I am looking for information on:

  1. the relevant technical characteristics of my computer 
     (it's a PIM-TB-Z 10 MHZ Turbo)
  2. the relevant technical characteristics of the monitor
     (it's a high resolution RGB color monitor)
  3. the differences between CGA, VGA, and EGA. (Which one do I have?)
  4. where to buy used books on PCs and their software.
  5. a good book on PCs for a beginner; a book that has a broad intrro-
     ductory coverage (upgrading, compatibility whith printers, hard disks,
     software, etc..)
  6. what's called motherboard or mainboard.
  7. a good book that contains definitions of most common technical words
     relating to PCs.
  8. how/where to obtain public domain software (I need a lot...) for my PC.
  9. where I can get free basic instruction/technical support on PCs in the
     Los Angeles area.

  10. which type of diskets I need ( high density, Double density, Double
      sided, or it doesn't matter?).
