i'm using a more standard MDA card with xenix 286 2.2.3, now.
the OS still dies many horrible deaths.  i can't keep it running
for more than a few minutes.  panics panics panics.  often it dies
during fsck, too.

someone mentioned that the disc controller could be the problem.
i don't understand how -- the AT disk controller has no BIOS on it.
the controller is a standard WD 1002 clone.  the xenix docs mention
the WD1003...  perhaps the 1002 is not supported?  

i'm going to talk to the cats who sold me the &^%!#@*(&$%^ clone in 
the first place and see what they can do for me.  i think i will have
to trade the machine in for something which is more "compatible".
