Message-ID: <1294@ssc-bee.ssc-vax.UUCP> Date: 12 Jul 89 20:26:07 GMT Distribution: na Organization: Ringworld Lines: 30 [I miss my line eater] My friend (who doesn't have net access) had a disk get stuck in his internal (800k) drive. Being semi-mechanically inclined (he has successfully install a dove upgrade on this system) he opened up his mac to check if it was just a stuck label, etc. Well he got the disk out but now he claims that the "head" has fallen off his drive -- He would like to know if there is anyone who specializes in floppy drive repair, everywhere he has checked seems to want from $175-200 to just replace the drive, not repair. This was a result of his son imitating the vcr commercial and "forcing" the disk in -- at least there was no oatmeal. BTW will any 3rd party external drive (now around $130) fit internally if disassembled? Please don't flame -- snide comments may be accepted but I have not seen the unit in question and am posting as a favor. I also have to handle the replys and don't want to singe my poor terminal.
