I haven't been following this newsgroup, so please excuse a question
that must have been asked many times before, but that I am curious
about.

Does anyone know whether optical drives (the readable and writable
kind used with the NeXt computer) are yet generally available in a
form that can be interfaced to a different sort of computer.

If so, I'd appreciate some brand names and/or places near Palo Alto
where such a beast might be found.

Please reply by email, since I suspect this question has been answered
many times.
