As I described in an earlier note, I changed the permission on
/var/spool/uucp so that is was only writable by uucp.  This confused
C-Kermit, which is trying to obey the uucp locking protocol.  It only gave
a warning, but I thought to be safe I would change the permission back to
public write and with the sticky bit, even though I have been advised
otherwise.  Is there an expert out there on the uucp locking protocol who
can advise me on the proper permissions?  -David-
