Is there anything unique about the 64K x 4 memory chips. I purchsed 8 at my local electronics supply for $73, about half of what Tandy is asking for their upgrade. Are there any jumper that need to be removed/added to allow the machine to recognize the addional 256K of memory? (My folks live in Calif and I haven't physically laid my hands on the computer.....just getting ready all I want to do to it before I go out there.) A related question...In looking at the current issue of PCM, I notice many adds for Hard Cards where they specifically say .."add $20 for Tandy 1000 machines". Can anyone tell me whats so unique about the Tandy 1000 (SL,TL,etc) that would necessitate this $20 charge. I thought the machines were PC Compatible. And help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
