When writing to the tape with a tar command (ie. tar cvf /dev/tape *) Everything works fine however, the tape drive is extremely slow. I have seen this drive under xenix really fly. I have checked the Interupt level, and that is ok. The tape doesn't stream, it rewinds after writing only a short portion of tape. Another problem I encounter using the tape drive is a lock-up in the tar program when the tape gets full. Once locked up, the only way to kill the task is to reboot the system. The operating system is ISC 386/ix Release 2.0. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- - Ed Cooley | Strategic Concepts, Inc. ecooley@sci386.uucp | 132 Kelly Drive cseg!sci386!ecooley | Rogers, AR 72756 (501) 636-8152
