I have written a very simple X-windows application, most of which is out of a book and which uses a "-d" option to select a display. Attempting to use a display other than ":0.0" produces an error. e.g. demo -d spike:0 Invalid Display: spike:0 Even though I'm on spikes xhost list and xclock -display spike:0 works fine. My code is so simple I can't understand what is going on !! The really odd thing is I got hold of the source to xclock and recompiled it using cc xclock.c -lXaw -lXmu -lXt -lX11 -O -lm and now it doesn't work for remote connections !! (it works fine without the -display option). I hope someone can help.
