people keep telling me that gcc generates very fast
code: 30% faster. Can anyone provide me with some
benchmarks. On what machines is the code produced by
gcc faster and compared to what (portable C-compiler).

Is gcc running on the hp series 835 (seems a lot of work to me)
and is it faster??
