Nice'ing rnews doesn't make it all that nice :-) Yeah, I have noticed this too. If one's system is mostly disk-bound, nicing does not have a substantial effect, at least under Sys V/3. I think what is needed is a nicer-than-nice nice where really low priority tasks do not always get to execute or get their disk requests fulfilled, even when there are no other run-ready tasks. -- -- uunet!ficc!karl
