What I found was that in SP mode, they worked great; I couldn't tell the difference between the drilled tapes and a true S-VHS tape. When I switched to EP, however, there was definitely a difference: the drilled tapes produced a VERY noisy picture, full of little horizontal line segments. They were extremely distracting. Since most of my S-VHS recording is in EP mode (I don't get good enough reception for SP to do me much good, and besides I'd spend a fortune on tapes with all the programs I archive) I'm continuing to buy S-VHS tapes. --- This message is a figment of your imagination.
