I have a bit of a problem. I like EMACS, it's my favorite text editor. In fact, I'm writing this post with EMACS. The problem is that I often use it from home, on an Apple //+ with 80 column card. I use Kermit v3.84, which provides vt100 emulation. For some reason, the emulation is less than perfect with EMACS (not with most other things). This usually means I have to do several dozen screen re-draws every time I edit a file of any decent length. At 1200 baud, this is a pain and a half. Could anybody out there help me with this? I can't change computers, Kermit is the only decent vt100 emulator for the Apple //+/e, and I won't change editors. I also would like to know if anybody can tell me how to re-define a key in EMACS. I like to use the ^a key, which takes the cursor to the far left edge of the screen, but I often use another program which uses the ^a key. Is there any command I can use to re-define that key as something else? Steven J.
