Yesterday, I posted a note regarding this very topic, as a result of a reply to the above message, which arrived before the above message. If I had waited, I wouldn't have made my posting at all. Oh well. I am still going to make my own modifications to expr, if only as a learning experience, but unless I do something profoundly better than Peter's version, I will not bother the net with my efforts.
