I've also heard it's possible to damage monitors if you play with the video
controller incorrectly (never seen it happen).
With floppy disk drives, I suppose problems could happen without unloading
the heads.

I've played a lot (carefully) and I've never damaged anything.  I suppose
if I tried I could.

I suppose this is what makes low-level programming so difficult.
