        I have found Rob Pecks book to useful in getting started with various
parts of the Amiga system.  Just type in the program, figure out how it works
and what it's doing, and go from there.  As far as learning C, I've found
"C Language for Programmers" to be quite useful.  It gives several levels of
examples for many of the more complex C concepts, and is well organized.  I
