Message-ID: <20363@louie.udel.EDU> Date: 24 Jul 89 19:44:36 GMT Sender: mmdf@udel.EDU Lines: 38 I am forever comeing up with ideas that I cannot do because either I don't have enough time or expertiese. I would like to release them to the net and see if any of the materialize ... On a local BBS there is a file which is a bunch of Startup-Sequences. The thought of people blindly copying a Startup-Sequence into their S: directory rather than modifying their own is outrageous. Some people don't know how to set up their S-S I immagine. Idea! In order to make the Amiga more usefull to the total bone-hea.. er, novice user, a Startup generator! A intuition program that will allow people to select which programs to be loaded, which devices to be mounted, and junk like that. It should be able to read in a S-S not generated by the program, and generate a perfect S-S when they are through. Hows that sound? On the topic of script generators, how about a HYPErcard type program that generates an ARexx script? This way the "stacks" could be usefull to people without the HypeRexx program. Of cource this script would utilize rexxarplib heavily. The Macintoster has the Font/DA mover, which allows people to copy Fonts and Desk Accessorys to their system disk. The Amiga could have a similar program that could also install .library's and .devices. Could be used to install complecated programs like ConMan and such. Saves people from going down to (Gads!) DOS level. Each of these programs would have to be fully intuitive. The Amiga does lag behind in the graphic interface department (until 1.4, I suppose). Comments? Flames? Code? Growlf? /* F.
