It is perfectly doable, and depending on whether you got one of the "good" SC1224's you'll get a pretty nice display. Resolution is nothing special, but the black-matrix screen makes for nice bright colors. I've done it simply by chopping the Atari cable and putting on a 23-pin connector, using the separate horizontal and vertical sync signals. You may have to "buffer" the sync's if your system won't boot reliably with the monitor plugged in.
