(recall it REPLACES the 65816 that comes from the factory). It's not too surprising thaat the accelerator has some power up diagnostics, etc. Adding a little code to display a graphic ahead of the 'bootstrap' ROM is no hassle (assuming the capacity of whatever on-board chip contains the power-up ROM has more memory than is needed for that purpose).
