But four months later, the monitor power supply suddenly gave up the ghost. Went to many computer repair places in my area. Always got the same reply: "You have to be kidding. We wouldn't touch that thing." So I was a bit put out with Packard-Bell. Then I learned over the net that I should try Packard-Bell's technical support 800 phone-number, included in the product manual. Other people were giving the company rave reviews, so I thought I'd try one last shot before trashing the faulty equipment. And very glad I did! The Packard-Bell people were knowledgeable and polite. They assigned me an "RMA number" and told me to ship the monitor to them, along with my proof of purchase. I did as they requested, shipping it via ground UPS. (From Pennsylvania to California) Just three weeks later, I got a brand new monitor (still sealed), no questions asked. And they phoned me to assure themselves that I got the monitor OK and was happy with the transaction. These people are great! And when you consider that the same nearby discount house is now offering a Packard-Bell 20MB hard- disk PC/AT clone for about $1200, one may consider their lesser-known brand name a worthwhile risk. So I thought I'd give Packard-Bell a hand. (I am not in any way connected with the company, by the way.) Gary L. Barrett Unisys Corporation Devon Engineering Facility Wayne, PA
