Computer Science Lines: 27 I have to be sys admin on an RT running 2.2.1 AIX. We received it with IBM's rs232c 4-port async expansion card for hanging terminals (actually old PC's) off of the system. They are having trouble getting cables (you know, those different plugs IBM is so fond of using) and have decided to try to get a new async expansion card instead that uses normal DB-9 or DB-25 pin cables. Word from on high is that the choice is between Computone IntelliPort AT8 and the Anvil Design On-Board Intelligent I/O (available as 4/8/12/16 expandeable) Any experiences with either one? e-mail will be summarized. Apparently the upper echelons are leaning towards the Anvil Design board for political reasons (other business dealings with the company :-( ), but the last time they made a technical decision based on political reasons it set their software design schedule one year back. I'd hate to see that happen again.
