I just acquired a MacIntosh IIx, and everything seemed to work fine, and then, suddenly, I have the following series of problems: Under MULTIFINDER: 1. Application I am running suddenly "halts unexpectedly (1)", and I am required to hit a box with the OK in it. 2. "Cannot Load Finder", which always hangs, and requires that I reboot the system. Under FINDER: 1. Application I am running bombs, with ID=1, and very rarely ID=2. Under either circumstance, regardless of application, the system will hang or (under MultiFinder) exit unexpectedly. I understand that ID=1 is an address buss error, and ID=2 is an illegal instruction. Do not hesitate to correct my understanding! Concerned that it was the disk drive (because it could not "load finder"), I completely reformatted my disk drive, and rebuilt the operating system and applications. The problem persists. I have had it in the shop once, but the problem is increasingly intermittent, and the problem could not be reproduced in the shop. I suspect it is the RAM, or its connectors. Any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. Please keep in mind that I have a IIx, not a IIcx. Cheers and thanks, Steve Keith -- Stephan R. Keith Sun Microsystems, Inc.
