Not only does it magnify portions of the screen, but from the control panel you can put the screen in reverse-video. But can you use inverse video without using the magnifying glass? Noooooooo. Can you install it and have it lay dormant after every boot? Noooooooo. It reactivates itself every time you reboot (very bad user interface design), thus screwing up the mouse cursor [with a big surrounding box]. Apple fails in user-interface design!
