Thanks to the six of so people who responded this time.
My problem was that I had the old version of GateKeeper
which prevented StuffIt from creating the new files but
didn't say it was doing so in any visible way.

I removed my Virus protection, downloaded the newer version
of GateKeeper, and successfully installed it and Macenvy in
my system file as cdevs before restoring my virus protection.

Now that I have succeeded, I have a question about false
information from Macenvy, which I will post separately.
