  Gee, Steve, why didn't you mail me? :-)

  It sounds to me as though the file type of the MacEnvy file has been
changed to something other than 'cdev'. This would produce the symptoms
you describe. Using ResEdit, click on "MacEnvy" and then select "Get Info"
from the File menu. The dialog that appears will have boxes for entering
the Type and Creator; these should be 'cdev' and 'envy', respectively.
If not, change them, and save the changes. You'll need to force a rebuild
of the Control Panel's cdev list, by holding down Option and Command as
you select "Control Panel" from the DA menu. You'll hear a beep, indicating
that the rebuild is underway. When the Control Panel window appears, you
should see MacEnvy's icon.

  (MacEnvy 2.0 has been more or less finished for about a month now; as
soon as I get the documentation finished, it will be released. Sorry for
the delay...)
