Guerra) Distribution: usa Organization: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Lines: 15 I've seen a reference to using ftp on the Mac and currently I can use NCSA telnet to retrieve a file from another machine. However, in order to initiate an ftp transfer, I must make a connection (i.e. logon) onto another machine before I can initiate an ftp transfer. What I'm wondering is there something like a MacFTP (I made up this name - doesn't exist as far as I know) that allows you to initiate an ftp session from the Mac without connecting to another machine first? I've looked in the sumex archives and I can't find anything relevant. It just seems like a hassle to create a terminal session with a machine to which I initiate an ftp session to transer files to that machine and when I'm done initiate an ftp session with the machine to my Mac in order to get the files where I originally wanted them. This requires dual ftp transfers for each file that I want! Is there a solution to this? Frank guerra@lll-crg.llnl.gov
