I just finished porting my MGR window system to the DECstation 3100, using the raw (pm) frame buffer. With no help from DEC, I figured out the magic needed to access the frame buffer, keyboard, and mouse. You can look at the DEC display drivers in the MGR src (availiable via ftp from bellcore.com), or if there is enough interest I can post a summary.
