Message-ID: <306@sed170.HAC.COM> Date: 26 Jul 89 18:29:04 GMT Reply-To: lee@sed170.UUCP (John Lee (ird)) Organization: Hughes Aircraft Co., El Segundo, CA Lines: 32 Does any know how to determine what version of X11 (specifically the release number) is DECWindows (VMS) on a VAXstation 3100? The macros in Xlib return the following: ProtocolVersion(): 11 ProtocolRevision(): 0 ServerVendor(): DECWINDOWS DigitalEquipmentCorp. VendorRelease(): 11 Meanwhile, X11R2 on our Suns runs X11R2 and the macros return this: ProtocolVersion(): 11 ProtocolRevision(): 0 ServerVendor(): MIT X Consortium VendorRelease(): 2 I reason I need this information is that I have heard that X11R3 is much better on the Suns and I would like to upgrade them to X11R3. We have not upgraded out of fear that the VAXstations run X11R2, altough we have not confirmed this. We need the Suns and VAXstations to be completely compatible since we are doing development on both machines. What release of X11 is DECWindows (VMS), and is there any reason why we should not upgrade our Suns? --John Lee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raining CATS and DOGS?
