Gremlins? :-) I found that I had to define both DOXREFS *and* NORELAY to get rn to handle the Xref: line properly. Defining just DOXREFS wasn't good enough 'cause rn tried to determine the local host using the Relay-Version: line which didn't exist on my machine.
