As part of a project that aims to provide better explanations from
expert systems I have recently started work on providing appropriate
pictures to complement the textual explanation generated by the expert
system.  The pictures are pre-stored, with descriptins of their content
forming part of the knowledge base.  I would very much like to know if
there is anyone else out there doing something similar.  Also if anyone
has any references on this area (planning mixed text/graphics output,
effect on how the information presented in the text is assimilated when
a picture is present etc) I would be most interested.
