Someone, just recently, requested info on IC mask layout design.  It took
longer than I thought to find this title:

     "INTRO TO IC LAYOUT" by Brian Spinks
      published by Prentice Hall

One is the hardback version.  It is part of the Motorola Solid State series.
Having been a mask layout designer for the past 12 years I didn't get much
from it.  On the other hand, I felt it was a great text for anyone being
introduced to VLSI.  I believe it focused on both NMOS and CMOS silicon-gate
technologies.  A very good primer!!  

If anyone needs assistance with layout design, let me know.  I'd be willing
to help any way I can.
