I regard inclusion of a working TTY driver (working both for dial-out and dial-in) to be of highest importance. If this means we need 1.4a rather than 1.3, so be it! Also critical is the inclusion of the Supra HD fix to stwini.c. This mod doesn't interfere with the operation of any other drive, and is required for some drives (even some non-Supra drives) to work at all. Whatever is done should be done soon since I feel rather stuck right now in developing further kernel mods when I'm not sure what the next official baseline will be. As a matter of interest, in order to support work on a port of the X window system, I'm designing a compatibility library which implements Internet Domain Sockets (stream mode only). This will require a new task (at the level of FS and MM) tenatively called IPC which provides the actual transport mechanism to build the Socket emulation on. This is planned to be a simple message passing IPC mechanism. As I said before, however, much of this work is going to be held up until I know what the next baseline OS will look like, so for now I'm working on the standard libraries (cf: comp.lang.c). > Regards, > > Frans Meulenbroeks (meulenbr@cst.prl.philips.nl) > Centre for Software Technology > ( or try: ...!mcvax!phigate!prle!cst!meulenbr) \\ / Dale Schumacher 399 Beacon Ave. \\ / (alias: Dalnefre') St. Paul, MN 55104-3527 >< ...umn-cs!midgard.mn.org!syntel!dal United States of America / \\ "What is wanted is not the will to believe, but the will to find out, / \\ which is the exact opposite." -Bertrand Russell
