I've got a situation where I would like to run several Maxtor XT-8760 ESDI drives off a SCSI based DECstation 3100. Recently in this group I heard mention of an Emulex MD21 controller which sounds like it could do what I need. Are there other makes and models ? Can any of them run more than 1 ESDI drive ? Performance is not a major concern, these disks will be used mostly for archival type storage. What I need idealy, I guess, would be a board that takes 4 ESDI drives and presents them as 1 large SCSI unit ( 4 units would be ok ). Any information on products, vendors, cost, etc. would be greatly appreciated. --- Karl Reuss Univ. of Maryland at College Park (reuss@umd5.umd.edu)
