Message-ID: <8908061752.AA07762@vax.ftp.com> Date: 6 Aug 89 17:52:32 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The Internet Lines: 18 the NE1000 card from novell is (was? are they still making/selling them?) a NAt Semi evaluation card. nat semi made the cards to show off their DP8390 chip. they then decided to give the designs to anyone who wanted to make the cards (and sell the chips). seems like a good idea. several other comapnies have done basically the same thing: DLink DE-001, Tiara "8-bit" (i dont know their part name/number). there is a company in Isreal that built one into the motherboard of a workstation they built. there are more people jumping on this bandwagon every day. it has nothing to do with the 3c501 from 3com. 3com uses the same chip in the 3c503, but it is in no way compatible with the NS eval board. stev knowles stev@ftp.com ftp software 617-246-0900
