So, wanting to learn nroff/troff anyway, I embarked on converting this ugly document into a thing of beauty. (I also don't have much to do this summer :-) ) All six files (txt[0-5]) now have tbl and *roff -ms macro formatting. Because most terminals don't handle tbl output very well, these are really only good for high quality troff (pstroff, psroff, thack, etc) output. My final copies were printed with pstroff on a Laser Writer and look 100 times better. But looks aren't everything. The documents were most helped by converting the hand formatted tables into tbl with boxes and nifty columns. Alas, the rest of the docs still suffer from poor prose, grammar, and inconsistencies. Items that blatantly screamed "ugly", I retrofitted into readability but most of it would fail any writing test. (BTW, that was a minor flame. Burners off.) I am unsure how to distribute these, so please send me mail with requests or suggestions. Hopefully, the authors will see the light and format all future documenation in this manner. I suggest separate on-line and off-line docs (getting something readable from my docs just requires removing some tbl line drawing).
