Their installation software sucks moose mucus. At the time I didn't have 1.3 roms and yet I wanted to do something as outrageous as partitioning my Q80 in something other than 2 40M partitions. Does anyone else wonder what the 1.3 roms & partitioning have do to w/ each other??? Their first disk would not allow for used defined partitions (& was actually 1.2 based) & their *new* revised software assumed 1.3 roms. In short I had to hack up both versions to do what I wanted to do. I generally *liked* the GVP (it was quite fast) but most of the performance was do to the Q80. As for design, what about MAX TRANSFER, the brain damaged cousin of Mr. Headroom. If your requests are over 8192 *watch out*. IF YOU DON'T SET THIS PARAMETER W/ gvp YOU'LL GET FILES OF THE CORRECT SIZE BUT THEY'LL BE CORRUPTED. 'Nough said? > (the artircle qouted about Quantum drives) > . > >Now that's true. I now have a 2500 & w/out setcpu yet w/ the ST506 Rodime (& the 2090A) was as quick as the GVP w/ the Q80. The Q80 + 2090A w/ setcpu is *very* fast.
