I still have an old II+ that I like to play around on once in a while and it
has developed a problem that I don't know how to fix.  I would appreciate any
help I can get.

A little while back, I was using the II+ in 80 col mode with Kermit to transfer
some files from my mainframe at work.  Everything seemed to work fine, then a
couple of days later I turn on the machine in 40 col and nothing.  I tried
all the bypasses of the video lines that I could, but no luck.  I then initial-
ized the 80 col card and it worked fine.  I don't know what could be the problem
and would appreciate it if anyone out there can give some suggestions.  I
haven't ever had any hardware problems with this machine, so I guess it is time
something started to act up.
