A few compatibility notes: 1) Thus far, it looks real good on the whole. Most things seem to work faster, and it's an invisible change. That's the kind I like. 2) Two of Guy T. Rice's programs are having problems. Does Guy have a Compuserve or a net account? ShowText.NDA crashes my system on bootup (after removing everything else and re-adding pieces to the puzzle). Additionally, StartPic works, but the picture gets munged after it initially loads. The bottom inch gets copied further down in the picture, thus "stretching" out the picture. Clearly, SHR memory must be getting copied somewhere. Is this part of the "invisible transition" from thermometer to Finder screen? The release notes seem to make a big thing out of this. 3) I've gotten a system crash into the monitor when I "BYE" from Basic.System. The address is 00/BD48 and the instruction is BRK 00 leading me to believe that this may be data (maybe?). I have not removed everything to test this, but I may do so. 4) The release notes mention that TS3 is new for SD 5.0, and is "(Patch for ROM Version 03)" Will someone from Apple comment on this? It's on page 13, and either "It's a typo" or "It is the policy of Apple Computer, Inc. not to comment on unreleased products" will be sufficient. 5) I like the info-card metaphor, and the graphic locks on files. The finder has become very smooth indeed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Todd A. Bakal Remember: 1 Million people U of M Apple User's Group saved Spock.
