Of the many info-apple feeds we received, today, there are at least ten postings regarding problems with GS/OS 5.0. Essentially... all of them seem to be related to problems with the Finder (Icons, pull-down menus, etc.). I have been "into" Apple II's for about six years (earlier a //e, now a IIGS) and I appear to be one of those few individuals who do not particularly like the Finder. It appears that there is a whole sub-culture evolving around the Finder: Icon Editors, Icon contests, etc., etc. Admittedly, the graphics interface has a certain visual appeal. GS/OS 5.0 was installed on my CMS drive (using the Installer) and I have had, eially, _no_ problems... except for the PaintWorks Gold incompatibility which was so clearly explained by Richard Ewing. Basic.System 1.3 seems to have its share of problems, but so did earlier versions. (I'm not sure it's much easier to type "MTR" than "Call-151", but, apparently, someone decided it was... creating another potential incompatibility with older software.) With ProSel, I have all the ease of program launching, as well as outstanding utilities, I could want. ECP undoubtedly provides the same easy, flexible, interface. The glamour may not be the same, but I don't find myself crashing into the monitor with every change of system software. Mind you, I'm just expressing an opinion... B^) garths@pro-xy (Garth Shultz)
