I bought them under the name Zipper 2400 (actually Prometheus 2400G) sold by Priority 1 out of California. The first one I bought was in an aluminum chasis while the last two were plastic. As far as my case is concerned, minus a few glitches with the speaker on one unit, mine have held up considerably well in *HEAVY* usage (knock on wood :-) ) over the time I have had them. At the time I bought my first two, the $250-$300 price was then a "good" price, and the modems exhibit that "solid" modem quality over some of the other then cheaper 2400 baud hayes clones. Several people I know have bought them on my advise, and they too have experienced good performance. One did have a problem with one right off the bat, but the company (Priority One) replaced it with no hassle. I also called Prometheus direct with some problems a while back and got very friendly assistance. Overall, I feel I got my money's worth out of them over the course of the past 2-3 years. I suppose you unfortunately latched onto a lemon. But then, every good product will have a lemon now and then. Just my $.02 worth. Mark. -- Mark J. Bailey "Ya'll com bak naw, ya hear!"
