The problem also occurred on a PC clone booted up with no Config.Sys. Therefore, BUFFERS is set to default (2?). I received a reply from Microsoft saying this is a very well known problem. I guess if they don't know a fix to this (without rewriting DOS), I just have to watch what I do with floppies. Thanks. Chia-Chi
