Summary: would make DOS and users unhappy Keywords: Putting the FAT in the fire Message-ID: <1491@crdgw1.crd.ge.com> Date: 4 Aug 89 12:36:16 GMT References: <5569@arcturus> Sender: news@crdgw1.crd.ge.com Reply-To: dixon@sagittarius.crd.ge.com (walt dixon) Organization: General Electric Corp. R&D, Schenectady, NY Lines: 13 There are two problems with this idea. Since DOS doesn't know anything about reference counts, file deletion will leave dangling references. Subsequent operations on these references have the potential to trash your disk structure. chkdsk would not be too happy about finding the same cluster in more than one file.
