I'd like to take time to thank everyone who replied to my question about
buying a Mac in the US and taking it to Australia.   The answer was "yes"
as I probably could have found out by reading the back of any Mac.  (You
learn something new every day :-)

I think my friend will go ahead and sink the $$US and buy an SE of some
sort.
