My background is with System V Release 2. I'm running the System V INIT. Two powerfails this week has brought the following question into view: How does this machine handle a power failure? I have the following line in my /etc/rc file: pf::powerfail:/etc/powerfail 1>/dev/console 2>&1 #power fail routines However, my Unix release does not include the /etc/powerfail file. Does the machine support power failure detection and pass a signal up to Unix? Is it safe to sync the disks in /etc/powerfail? car. -- Christopher A.
