I also bought the 1200 baud modem option, so that I can use it as well as/instead of the serial port. I have been very happy with the machine since I got it. I'm considering getting the 20M hard drive upgrade for it. I primarily use the machine to (1) write letters which I print on the printer and mail, and (2) do email to work (using UUPC software) either from home or when on business trips. I do my editing with a PC version of vi. I do serial comm either using UUPC or Procomm or a simple Intel virtual terminal program. I have done all of these to both the modem and serial port. You have to go through the Ctrl-Alt-Ins setup program to choose which one. If you have any particular problems, questions, or requests for software where I might be able to help, let me know.
