Since the last few days I have been getting a strange message when I start to vi a file. When I type : $ vi filename I get this message for a moment first: "/u0/vijay/vijay/.virc" No such file or directory then it starts to vi the file. I guess the shell looks for a .virc file to read some commands from before vi'ing a file. Since I do not have a .virc file, thus the command. My question is: what should I put in the .virc file; and also, why all of a sudden this message? I have never had a .virc file ever, and the vi command used to work before. Any help would be appreciated.... Thanks in advance... -- /| |\ Vijay K.
