I think you are out of luck. If my memory serves me correctly, the driver was rewritten to drive the TK50 in streaming mode in 2.0. The driver in 1.X couldn't get data to the drive fast enough to keep it going in streaming mode, so it runs in start/stop mode which explains why it takes so long to do a small dump. It may be possible to grab the driver out of the 3.0 you seem to imply that you have, but I haven't really looked into whether this is possible or not.
