I'm seeing a lot of errors during dump 'bread:(this should not happen) expected xxxx, got xxxx' and it seems like there's a bunch of trashed blocks on the disk. OK, so I run format and fix 'em up. Problem is, I got a lot of 'em, and now the bad block map is full, and I can't fix any more. Anyway, the question is, can someone tell me if I can restore from this dump tape, or do the errors get all the data out of whack? ( I realize that some of the data will be lost, but does it ruin the synchronization and mess up the rest of the tape as well...?) thanx in advance, mike +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + These views are my own, and may not be correct. + + Mike Macgirvin + + - Systems Administrator Stanford Relativity Gyroscope Experiment + + - Internet: mike@relgyro.stanford.edu (36.64.0.50) + + - Bitnet: mike%relgyro.stanford.edu@stanford + + - Uucp: uunet!relgyro.stanford.edu!mike + + "'Scuse me, while I kiss the sky" - Robert James Marshall (Jimi) Hendrix + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
