I received several responses providing all kinds of possible solutions. Unfortunately, a number of them recommend toolkit solutions which I don't have on my workstation. David Harrison (davidh@ic.Berkeley.EDU) mentioned an XLib menu package that does what I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to do. For various reasons which I won't take time to discuss here, I can't send email directly to him. So, David, if you're out there... please send the menu package or send me a phone number and I'll call you. Sorry to be posting this to the newsgroup but I'm fast running out of time and desperation is upon me. Thanks to all the understanding souls.... Carol Toomer Ford Aerospace Corp.
